What do I need to apply?
To be eligible to apply online, you must be aged 12 to 20, a resident in the Republic of Ireland, and attending full time second level education:
To apply, you’ll need:
- A valid photo identification: The documents we accept are your passport, drivers license card, or EU National ID card.
- Proof of address: The documents we accept can include a utility bill, a financial statement, or a letter from the Revenue Commissioners, an approved university, the CAO, the Department of Social Welfare, or the Naturalisation and Immigration Service.
- We’ll also ask you to take a selfie in the application form so make sure you’re camera ready.
Please note the following:
If you are aged under 18:
- If you are aged under 18, and you do not have a document with your name and address, you can use one from your parent or legal guardian if you live together and share the same address and last name. If the surnames do not match, we may require further documentation, such as your birth cert. We may ask for proof of address in your own name at a later date. You can also apply in branch using your birth certificate if you don’t have photo ID.
If you are aged under 16:
- If you are age 14 or 15: When you complete your application, you will receive an email. In the email, you will find a link to our upload hub. You can upload the following documents to complete the application:
- Your current Passport.
- A selfie of you holding your Passport.
- Your proof of address
- Digital and phone banking options are available from age 14. Debit cards under age 14 require parent/legal guardian consent in branch.
- Google Pay require you to be aged 16-18 and have your parent or legal guardian’s permission to accept their terms of service.
If you are age 12 or 13:
- To finish your application with us, your parent or legal guardian must bring your identification documents, and the reference number we give you, to one of our branches within 10 days. You can only use online and phone banking when you are 14 or older. If you want a debit card; your parent or legal guardian must fill out a form in branch to give us their consent.
Please note: If you’d prefer to apply in person, you can book an appointment with one of our helpful advisers in your local branch. You will need to bring valid photo identification and proof of address. Here’s a full list of acceptable documents.
